In this way, the president of APImprensa, who is part of the commission, admits that this impasse “does not contribute anything to the good image of the institution”.
Despite this, Cláudia Maia considers this obstacle “legitimate, as we live in a democracy, so we are trying to find names for the position, even though it is not easy to find people who are willing to occupy these roles, at such a difficult time for the media”.
Regarding the first proposals presented, the person responsible states that these have already been discussed, “so it doesn’t make much sense to go back”.
The first names presented opposed candidates Henrique Pires Teixeira (presented by the four journalists appointed by the media companies) and Luísa Meireles (nominated by professional journalists).
Asked about the possible integration of the CCPJ with the Regulatory Entity for Social Communication (ERC), the president of APImprensa mentions “it is not a perfect solution”.
“The CCPJ is a self-regulatory body and, upon being integrated into the ERC, it would no longer be so, unless another solution was found”, he concludes.
