The former boss of W52-FC Porto Adriano Quintanilha and the then sporting director of the cycling team Nuno Ribeiro were sentenced this Friday, December 12, to effective sentences of four years and nine months in prison for the doping scheme.
During the reading of the judgment of the trial of the ‘Prova Limpa’ operation, with 26 defendants, including former cyclists, which took place in a pavilion attached to the Paços de Ferreira Prison Establishment, the president of the group of judges said that, in summary, “practically all the facts” of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) accusation were proven.
The court found that Adriano Quintanilha paid for the doping substances and always had the final decision-making power over them, while the former runner Nuno Ribeiro liaised with the cyclists, acquired the illicit products and gave instructions and guidance on doping substances to the athletes, who were sentenced to suspended sentences or the payment of fines.
