Five hospital emergencies in Gynecology and Obstetrics will be closed on Saturday, while four of these services and one in Pediatrics will close on Sunday, according to data from the National Health Service Portal.

According to the SNS Emergency Scales, consulted by the Lusa agency at 10:15 this Friday, December 26th, Gynecology and Obstetrics emergencies at the hospitals in Abrantes, Santarém, Barreiro, Portimão and Caldas da Rainha (Gynecology) are scheduled to close on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Obstetrics emergency department at the Caldas da Rainha District Hospital reopens, while those at the hospitals in Abrantes, Santarém, Barreiro and Portimão remain closed.

On that day, the Pediatrics emergency room at the Torres Vedras District Hospital will also be closed, according to the emergency scales updated by local health units.

According to the SNS Portal, three Pediatric emergencies will be closed during the weekend, receiving only internal emergencies and cases referred by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).

The Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, in Loures, between 00:00 and 09:00 and 21:00 and 24:00, and the Santa Maria Maior Hospital, in Barcelos, between 00:00 and 08:00 and 22:00 and 24:00 are in this situation.

During the same period, Gynecology and Obstetrics emergencies at the Portalegre hospital (Saturday, between 00:00 and 08:00), the Amadora-Sintra Hospital (between 08:00 and 24:00) and the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital (Saturday, between 09:00 and 24:00, and on Sunday throughout the day) will also be restricted.

The São Francisco Xavier Hospital, in Lisbon, will be subject to the same constraints, between 00:00 and 08:00, the Aveiro hospital, between 00:00 and 08:30, and the Santo André Hospital, in Leiria.

During these periods, the services will only receive internal emergency cases or patients referred by the INEM Urgent Patient Guidance Center.

The data available, relating to stopovers, shows that 126 emergency services across the country are open on Saturday and 127 on Sunday.

Around 30 will be open as part of the pilot project that requires users to call SNS Line 24 before going to the hospital.

Health authorities appeal to the population to, before going to an emergency room, contact the SNS 24 line to receive appropriate guidance.
