The transitional President of Guinea-Bissau, General Horta Inta-A, appointed this Friday (28 November) Ilídio Vieira Té, former minister of the deposed President Embaló, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced the Guinean presidency, through a decree.

Ilídio Vieira Té, aged 42, has a degree in Public Law in Morocco and a master’s degree in Intercultural Human Rights and Development, from a university in Spain, and was appointed Minister of Finance in 2022.

A trusted man of former Guinean President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, deposed on the 26th by a military coup, Vieira Té was Embaló’s presidential campaign director, who sought his re-election for a second five-year term.

The electoral process in question was suspended by a Military Command that took power in Guinea-Bissau, with a coup d’état.

Ilídio Vieira will replace Braima Camará, who was appointed prime minister by Sissoco Embaló on August 7, 2025.

General Horta Inta-A was sworn in as transitional President of Guinea-Bissau, in a ceremony that took place at the General Staff of the Guinean Armed Forces, one day after the military took power in the country, anticipating the release of the results of the general elections on 23 November.
