Morais Leitão now has a team dedicated to immigration and international mobility. The work is led by the lawyer Inês Azevedo, with more than two decades of experience in this area, told DN that she was “very happy” with the new position.

Until now, this was not a prominent area at Morais Leitão, considered one of the largest law firms in the country. The team also includes lawyers Filipa Matta May and Laura Garção, who worked with the specialist at Ethikos Lawyers.

The work will be carried out across the office. “The new team is integrated into the Department of Labour, Social Security and Immigration and will now ensure, in a transversal way, the support of corporate and private clients at all stages of the migration processes, including legal planning, preparation of applications, relationships with the competent authorities and continuous monitoring after obtaining residence status”, says a statement from the law firm.

According to Morais Leitão, “This reinforcement consolidates Morais Leitão’s position as a leading law firm in advising on projects with an international dimension”. In a context in which immigration is one of the current central issues in Portugal and in which there is high international mobility, this is yet another law firm investing in this area.

“The issues of migration and international mobility have gained increasing relevance in the strategies of companies and private clients themselves.. The integration of this team allows us to offer an even more complete and coordinated service, articulating the migration area with the tax, labor, corporate, real estate and private client areas, in order to respond to all of our clients’ needs”, stated Martim Krupenski, managing partner da Morais Leitão, mentioned in the statement.

The lawyer highlights the “enthusiasm” with Morais Leitão’s new bet. “It is with great enthusiasm as we begin this new chapter at Morais Leitão. Our priority is to ensure rigorous, close and efficient monitoring of all those who seek Portugal to work, invest, study or live, contributing to safe, predictable and sustainable migration solutions”, he stated in the same official statement.

The new team has experience in advising business groups, investors, internationally mobile workers and their families, as well as on all types of visas. It also operates in special taxation regimes associated with mobility provided for in Portuguese law and in the definition of internal global mobility policies.
