This Thursday, December 25th, the President of the Republic promulgated the decree of the Assembly of the Republic that aims to reinforce support for victims of rural fires.
The final wording of the communist initiative diploma stipulates a reinforcement of “measures to support and mitigate the impact of rural fires, in matters of housing, health, access to benefits and exceptional social support, support for loss of income, restoration of productive potential”.The decree outlines emergency response and “prevention and economic relaunch” measures.
The attribution of benefits and support must be based on “the need to compensate for the total or partial loss of sources of income, primary or complementary, as a result of the fires”as well as the “combination of social benefits of different nature, with or without contributory nature” and “specific supplements in cases where social benefits already exist”.
“Victims who have an effective connection to the localities where they were located are entitled to support for the reconstruction of second homes, in an amount of at least 50 percent, up to a maximum of 100 thousand euroswith the remainder being supported by a line of credit with state guarantee and a maximum interest rate of three percent”, establishes the diploma.
The decree also includes a “exceptional support for farmersto compensate for losses, even if undocumented, up to a value of 15 thousand euros, following a joint inspection by technicians from the municipalities and the competent CCDR”, with a minimum expenditure eligible for support of 100 euros.
In addition to the PCP, the proposing party, the project in question was approved on October 17, in Parliament, with the favorable votes of Chega, PS, Livre, BE, PAN and JPP and the abstentions of PSD, CDS-PP and Liberal Initiative.
The diploma amends a Government decree-law that had been unanimously approved in September – and promulgated on the same day by Belém – and which already defined measures to support and mitigate the impact of fires.
