The Ministry of Internal Administration announced this Friday, December 12th, to the GNR associations that the scale supplement will be increased by 2.15% in 2026, but the Association of Guard Professionals insists that negotiations must start with base salaries.

At the end of another negotiating meeting at the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), the authority presented to the GNR socio-professional associations the news of a 2.15% increase next year in the scale supplement, which translates, according to the president of the Association of Guard Professionals (APG), into a monthly increase of three euros.

This increase in the scale supplement is in addition to the increase announced at the previous meeting of 2.5% in January of the special service supplement, intended for military personnel working in criminal investigation and special units.

César Nogueira told Lusa that the Government is changing the remuneration status “in patches” starting with supplements and argued that “the entire status must be discussed”, namely the base salaries, that is, the creation of a new remuneration table, which for APG is the most important issue.

“The APG will maintain its protest actions as long as a total review of the remuneration status is not on the negotiating table”, stressed the president of the most representative association of the GNR, adding that the protests will return in January after the gathering held on Thursday next to the prime minister’s residence together with the Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP/PSP).

At the meeting, the MAI also presented a new proposal on paid services, with both tables, the general one (table A) and the one intended for non-professional sporting competitions (table B), increasing by 15%.

APG defended the existence of only a single table.

This afternoon, the MAI will welcome the PSP unions, but the ASPP will not be present because it abandoned negotiations at the last meeting, accusing the Government of not complying with the agreement signed in July 2024. For the ASPP, as for the APG, the priority is to negotiate salaries.

The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for January, without a specific date, and hygiene and health at work should be discussed.
