The edition of this Sunday, December 14th, of the newspaper Public reveals that in ten years, 670 people asked to stop being Portuguese and that in 2024 there were 99, the highest number since 2015.
The newspaper says that the law provides that anyone who has another nationality can request to stop being Portuguese and, in recent years, requests reaching the Institute of Registries and Notaries have been increasing.
A number that, however, is small when compared to the approximately 2.1 million people who are part of the Portuguese diaspora and the approximately 70 thousand who emigrate every year.
In turn, the News Journal Its headline is the case of drug sales in Gaia led by a 21-year-old young man who opened an account on the social network Telegram, which was called “Groceries”, where orders could be placed for cocaine, heroin, hashish and cannabis, the doses of which were then sent to buyers through orders from CTT.
These traffickers attested to the quality of the product and published videos and photos of the drugs available.

According to the newspaper, thanks to the fact that the Tax Authority benefited the minister in the Oldness Coefficient, related to the age of the property, Leitão Amaro saves more than 1100 euros per year in IMI.
