Ten people, including five children, were injured this Thursday, December 25th, without serious injuries due to carbon monoxide poisoning in a house on the outskirts of Coimbra, said a fire department source.

Source from the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Coimbra Region said that the incident originated in a brazier and caused 10 minor injuries, five adults and five children, who were transported to hospital.

Following the alert, given at around 8:00 am, a total of 27 operatives went to the house located in Casal das Figueiras, in São Martinho de Árvore, in the municipality of Coimbra, supported by 11 vehicles.

The same source indicated that to help the victims it was necessary to activate 10 ambulances – from the Sapadores and Volunteer firefighters of Coimbra, Montemor-o-Velho and Cantanhede, and from the Portuguese Red Cross and National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) –, which also had the support of the emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER/INEM) from the Figueira da Foz hospital and the GNR, which took charge of the incident.
