“They are a threat to our nation”

Donald Trump withdraw the United States from 66 international organizations and continues with its policy of reducing its cooperation at the global level. The Republican president signed an executive order this Wednesday for his country to stop signing various international treaties that in his opinion are contrary to the interests of Washington, including the withdrawal of 31 entities from the United Nations Organization.

The document, which was shared by the White House, details that all US executive departments and agencies both participation and financing must cease of these entities after a review ordered by Trump to evaluate the financial support of the United States to groups that it considers contrary to its sovereignty and economic priorities.

The official document indicates that the measure responds to the fact that these institutions “operate in a manner contrary to the national interests, security, economic prosperity or sovereignty of the United States” and search for “globalist agendas”which do not align with Washington’s priorities.

The White House assured that this decision will end funding to these organizations with money from American taxpayers and will allow the country to redirect resources toward “internal and political priorities that favor its independence”.

“The Trump Administration has discovered that these institutions are redundant in scope, poorly managed, unnecessary, wastefulpoorly managed, captured by the interests of actors who promote their own agendas contrary to ours, or a threat to the sovereignty, freedoms and general prosperity of our nation,” said the Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a statement.

The announcement is part of a broad withdrawal of the United States from multilateral organizations, which already included the country’s departure from the World Health Organization, the UN Human Rights Council, as well as the US’s departure from the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2025.
