United Nations warns that Iran has not allowed them to review its nuclear program since last June

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recognizes that these attacks created “an unprecedented situation,” but considers it “indispensable and urgent” for Iran to once again submit to international nuclear controls.

Without that access, the IAEA “cannot verify the state of the atomic facilities attacked or the nuclear material associated with them“, including large amounts of highly enriched uraniuma material that can be used to make atomic bombs.

The IAEA warns that Iran had a large warehouse of enriched uranium in Isfahan, with a purity close to 90% required to arm nuclear projectiles, which it has not been able to review. Although the bombing damaged the entrance tunnel, the facility appears “generally intact,” they note.

Iran had been optimistic after the latest round of talks with the United States about its nuclear program, but signs are increasing that a US military attack could occur.

The two rivals held a third round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva yesterday Thursday in which Tehran considered that “good progress” was made while Washington has not commented on the matter.

The mediator in these negotiations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, stated that it has been achieved “significant progress” and the two sides met for a new meeting on Monday in Vienna, headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

All of this indicates that the negotiations are moving forward despite the points that separate the parties and which were recognized by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchí. “In many matters our positions have become closeralthough there are still differences.”

Washington demands the zero enrichment by Iran and limit the range of its missiles, points to which Tehran refuses and only accepts cuts to its atomic program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

But at the same time that negotiations continue, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford arrives this Friday with its battle group to the northern coast of Israel and joins the enormous US military deployment in the Middle East, the largest since the 2003 war.

Added to this is that the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, sent a message to the workers of the legation in which he warns them that, if they want to leave the country, “do TODAY“before a possible start of a conflict in the area.

For its part, the Chinese Embassy in Iran has also asked its citizens to leave the country as soon as possible.
